A dedicated practitioner of healing touch, Susan’s clients value her clinical skill and therapeutic presence. She has honed sensitivity from years of work in a nursing home, accuracy from serving 15 years in the University of North Carolina medical library and particular empathy for caregivers due to years of personally care giving for a spouse with stroke-induced brain damage. Susan has been in practice since she graduated from the Body Therapy Institute in 2014.
Susan has pursued in-depth training in medical massage, oncology massage, reflexology, neuromuscular techniques, and lymphatic drainage. Although her focus is on integrating multiple modalities to provide customized therapeutic sessions for her clients, she enjoys treating others to the extra touches that help create the ultimate massage experience, such as hot stones, contrast baths, herbal scrubs, and paraffin wax treatments.
Along with her technical abilities, Susan is well known for the empathy and emotional support, which underlines her approach. Devoted to unconditional positive regard for all her clients, she combines expertise with compassion that helps others heal and regain equilibrium. Kindness is the foundation of her skill set as a massage therapist.
In addition to long-term experience as the primary caregiver for loved ones, Susan volunteered for seven years at the Caring House, an adult care facility for those undergoing cancer treatments. She is especially attuned to the emotional and physiological needs of caregivers. She holds them in special regard, understanding the immense challenges they often face which can be overwhelming both physically and psychologically.
For Susan, massage is more than a means to an end; it is a calling. Her warm personality, openness to a diverse clientele, maturity, innate nurturing qualities, insistence on the highest standards for professional integrity, and impressive capability all come together to serve you.
Susan is an active member of the Associated Bodywork and Massage Professionals (ABMP).
